Pop vocalist and songwriter Ann Dolan began singing as a child when her teachers encouraged her to sing and recite her poetry for incoming classes. Her first song "I'M CRAZY OVER MAIZIE" was accepted for publishing when she was only thirteen! Somewhat shy, and very modest about her talents, Ann's adoration of music kept her motivated to pursue it as a career.

Talented on the piano, and playing guitar to accompany herself, Ann continued to write and perform songs. Notable is her commitment to delivery of excellent lyrics. Writing lyrics exclusively weighted in social issues, spiritual pathways, and humor sets her apart.

One of Ann's tribute pieces, "THE BOSTON SHINE" was featured on the GEM RECORDS label, and garnered quite a bit of attention from radio and television, including WBUR, WQRC, WMRE, WICN, and WGBH. (Read more about it on the MEDIA COVERAGE page of this site.) Ann has always stayed true to the integrity of her work - making songs that help and heal, with commercial success less important to her than meaningful, emotional promise.

Ann, who studied drama with renowned actress and acting coach KATE CARNEY, has performed in numerous theatrical and cabaret settings, as an actress, vocal soloist, and ensemble singer. She also performed at "ARTISTS FOR SURVIVAL" at MIT; a benefit to raise awareness around nuclear war. Ann's also been active in the LEXINGTON MUSIC CLUB, which consists of semi-professional and professional women musicians, who perform classical works for private functions.

In her student years, Ann did undergraduate work at UNIVERSITY OF MASSACHUSETTS and trained in Bel Canto singing with longtime BOSTON UNIVERSITY Professor BOB GARTSIDE. She feels that this contributed much to her performance range, and to this day studies with colleagues who stretch her stylistically. Ann embraces new methods and genres wholeheartedly.

Ann has also offered her time to many liturgical settings, as a performer and musical director. She feels that her role as a mother to her four wonderful children, Paula, Peter, Mark, and Meg, has been most fulfilling. She is presently enjoying her two grandsons; Shawn and Matthew.

These days, amid her teaching and writing, Ann is working on the completion of an EP that features some of her favorite works over the years. The CD will be available on CDBABY.COM. She continues to teach at BERKLEE COLLEGE OF MUSIC in the Voice Department, and looks forward to reintroducing her music to the public.
